Rice is a major economic crop in Thailand that has been deeply integrated into the way of life of the Thai people for generations. From the ancestors to the present day, rice has remained the staple food of the Thai population. Thailand has the largest area for rice cultivation and a significant number of people engaged in rice farming. The country is also one of the world’s leading rice exporters. Farmers involved in rice cultivation should have a broad vision, knowledge, and skills in agricultural activities, ranging from soil preparation, planting, maintenance, to harvesting. Additionally, they should possess knowledge of agricultural technology and innovation in rice farming to promote self-development in a systematic manner, enhancing their ability to compete within the ASEAN region. The workforce involved in rice cultivation can move within a structured and quality-driven labor system under the Professional Qualification framework, strengthening the agricultural sector. This will enhance the potential and elevate the capabilities of the agricultural sector in the future, ensuring that it remains secure in terms of livelihood, provides stable income, and improves the quality of life. It will also prepare the sector to keep pace with the changes and competitive development of the country in a sustainable manner.
