Robotics and automation industry supports various manufacturing industries in terms of  technology enhancement, improved efficiency , mitigation of  labor shortages It is one of the 10 target or S-Curve industries, including First S-Curve and 5 New S-Curve industries which drive economic development in the future. National Qualification framework is related to and affected many stakeholders, particularly at the policy level, namely the Ministry of Education. and the Ministry of Labor as the producer and developer of workforce, learners, business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals group and associations.

The National Qualification Framework sets out a framework for linking the qualification system of the country at all levels and categories through both formal and informal education, training, recognition of prior experience and learning to accumulate   learning credits units, which will lead to the enhancement of professional qualification and increased operational capability and competence to meet the demands of the labor market as well as economic and social development of the country. In addition, it also increases opportunities for further education and support lifelong learning of the workforce.

Occupational standards and professional qualifications are used to develop the curriculum and learning content for academic program, industrial training course, and other courses for workforce development which meet the needs of the industry. Competency-based curriculum are developed for the following professions: in the field of mechatronics technician. robot controller, robot technician, and automation system integrator.
